Pride Day at Attraqt- celebrating diversity, equality and inclusiveness
Although nobody was marching for Pride this year, now more than ever, we cannot lose sight of how important it is to support and celebrate the diversity and equality.
As a company, Attraqt is committed to building a truly inclusive society where everyone is respected, valued and listened.
On July 16th, Attraqt celebrated our own special Pride Day, being led by the global theme for 2020, of #YouMeUsWe. This theme called on each of us to reach out and understand one another, demanding us to be better allies within our own community.
Celebrations at Attraqt
Being a naturally social bunch, we hosted an array of events across our global offices to make Attraqt Pride Day celebration special. While our London and Sofia team met up for an online virtual drinks party, our colleagues in Paris and Amsterdam were fortunate to be able to celebrate face to face – a first for many after the lockdown.
In many ways the lockdown has brought us even closer together, and we pledged to make Diversity embedded in Attraqt, appointing our first LGBTQIA ambassador and mentor, Avril Clark. Our team is committed to providing a safe, loving and supportive workplace. Celebrating and supporting the LGBT+ community is one of the many ways we are seeing Attraqt as a workplace transform for the better.
Contributing to the change
One of the ways in which Attraqt supported the LGBT+ community this year, was through making donations to the select charities. Attraqt employees were encouraged to donate and Attraqt as a company then matched these individual contributions.
The three charities we chose to support were:
Established in 1975, LGBT Foundation exists to support the needs of the diverse range of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans. Each year, they support over 40,000 people, serving more LGBT+ people than any other charity in the UK. They support LGBT+ people to increase their skills, knowledge and self-confidence to improve and maintain their health and wellbeing. They also work in partnership with others to build strong, cohesive and influential LGBT+ communities.
Recognized as a Public Utility, Le Refuge Foundation aims to prevent isolation and suicide among young LGBT+ people, aged 18 to 25, victims of homophobia or transphobia and in situations of family breakdown. For the past 17 years, Le Refuge has been sheltering and accompanying these young adults towards their emotional and material reconstruction.
Established in 2011, Kaleidoscope Trust works to uphold the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) people in countries around the world where they are discriminated against or marginalised due to their sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression. They work with British and international institutions and partners to fund and support the work of LGBT+ activists to bring about positive legislative, policy and social change for LGBT+ people everywhere.
Raising Awareness
In addition to supporting the charities, throughout the day, we aimed to raise the awareness and promote the education around the subject. Attraqters were quick to support this initiative by sharing stories that have marked significant milestones within LGBT+ community.
